REACH is a European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006) since 2007. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances. The law entered into force on June 1st, 2007.
SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) are a diverse group of substances that have been placed in a "Candidate List" for authorization by the ECHA because of their particularly hazardous properties. Due to the specific hazards associated with these chemicals, REACH imposes controls on them over compared to regulations that apply to standard chemicals. By now, the "Candidate List" contains a total of 205 SVHCs. The list will be regularly updated, with more substances to be added over time.
